Victor Sorrell

Thought he was being kidded when a Detroit scout tried to sign him to a contract a few years ago. Was then a freshman at Wake Forest College in North Carolina. He finally signed, however, and after two years in Toronto won a place with the Detroit club. He is a right-handed pitcher, five feet, 10 inches tall and weighs 180 pounds. Sorrell started as a third baseman, but began pitching when a teammate was getting batted hard and he's been throwing 'em to batters ever since. Last year won 14 games and lost 14.
