"Jay" gets his big chance to play in a Tiger uniform this year after a 2 year hitch with Uncle Sam. Breaking in with Waterloo in '51, he hit .302 and led the League's Catchers in Fielding. At Colorado Springs in '52, he switched to the outfield and batted .340 in 66 games. He was brought up to the Browns in mid-season and tried 3rd Base before being traded to the Tigers in a 1952 winter trade.
