In 1967, Jeff reeled off eleven straight victories to win a shot in the majors. His first complete game was a 8-0 shutout vs. the hard-hitting Cubs.

In 1963, Jeff led the Pioneer League with 218 strikeouts.

Began rookie season by winning 8 straight games for the Phils. Then was slowed down by sore shoulder. Final 1950 record: 11-6. Attended University of Detroit and was signed out of college. Won 19, while losing 7, for Terre Haute in 1949. Pitched 25 complete games, the most in the Three-I League. ...

Who is it?

In 144 games in 1951, batting .267. A long ball hitter, Del chalked up 15 home runs, 5 triples, 20 doubles. Knocked in 73 runs. In 1950, when the Phils won the pennant, Del paced the league in runs batted in with 126. A local boy making good in the home town.

Who is it?

In college, Marlon was immobilized for months with a leg injury, but worked tirelessly on a comeback and transformed himself into a baseball phenom. In 2001, Byrd crushed 28 homers and stole 32 bases in Double-A. In '03, he won the job as Philly's regular centerfielder and rapped .365 in June/July.

Bert Niehoff

John A. Niehoff, third baseman of the Phila. National League Club, was born at Denver, Col., in 1885. His first opening in the professional field came with the Pueblo Club, of the Western League, in 1907. From that team he moved to Des Moines, of the same league, from which club the Pittsburgh Nationals secured him at the close of 1910. After a year with Pittsburgh he was returnd to Indianapolis, from which club Cincinnati selected him in 1913.
