Jackie Robinson

When Brooklyn signed him to Montreal Royal contract, he became first Negro to enter ranks of pro ball. As Royals' regular second baseman for 1946 he led International League in batting with .349. When he joined Dodgers in 1947 he was switched to first base. Led National League in stolen bases with 29, hit .296 and was named Rookie of Year. Last year he finished with same average, .296 and batted in 85 runs.
