Used to be a pitcher, but changed to outfielding, so he could hit more often. Played with Detroit three years and traded to Boston last season. Batted .281 in 143 games. Hits left-handed, but throws right-handed. Is 29, five feet, nine inches tall and weighs 175 pounds. Came to big league from Pacific Coast League, where he swatted .360 in 170 games.

Urban (Red) Faber
One of the few spitball pitchers in the big league. Claims a spitball is easier on the arm than a curve. Has been pitching in the American League since 1914 and twice led the league in effectiveness. Last year won two and lost 11. Starred in the world series in 1917, winning three out of four games. Was born in Cascade, Ia., 44 years ago, is six feet, one inch tall and weighs 175 pounds. Pitched a game before the King of England in London on the European tour of the White Sox and Giants in 1914.
