Hal, after 6 major league seasons as an outfielder, went back to pitching in 1954. He hadn't pitched since his first year in organized ball, 1946, when he pitched and played the outfield. In 1954 he got into 43 games for the Cubs, all but 3 of them relief appearances. He won 5 games and lost 6. Hal worked 104 innings. He did work in the outfield, appearing in 3 games. Hal hit .258, and drove in 6 runs. He's a good fielder.

Gene Hermanski

Gene tied the modern National League record when he smacked 3 Homers in 1 game for the Dodgers in '48. A "picture hitter", Gene has been in pro ball since '39 and was with the Dodgers from '43 until traded to the Cubs in June of '51. In '48, '49 and '50, Gene had Batting Marks of .290 .299 and .298 - coming close to, but never quite reaching the .300 circle. He's appeared in 11 World Series games, getting 9 hits, including 2 triples, in 32 times At Bat.
