Bob played in the Western Carolinas League All-Star game as a rookie, was Player of the Month in the Southern League, May, 1965, and was selected for TOPPS AAA All-West outfield in 1968. Was All-City in school.

On May 4, 1969, Bob became the 37th player in history to get 6 straight hits in a game.
