Fred Leach spent more than nine years in the National League playing with the Phillies, Giants and Braves. 8 times he batted over the .300 mark. Leach is not now in organized baseball, as he retired after playing with Boston in 1932. He is a left hand batter, but throws right handed; 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighs 183 pounds. He was born in Springfield, Mo., in 1897, and started his professional career with Waterloo in the Mississippi Valley League in 1922, batting for .383. He was bought by Philadelphia at the close of that season.
