Cardinals Card of the Day

Ken Panfil
Running up against Ken is like playing tag with a water buffalo. He's huge and uses his frightening bulk to tame rough pro guys. Ken is surprisingly agile and fast for a man his size.

Name that player!

Cardinals first draft choice. All-America and All-Conference for three years at U. of Oklahoma - one of the greatest ends at the university and Missouri Valley Conference. Washington TD Club selected Max as Lineman of the Year in '54. Did all the punting, caught 29 passes for 8 TD'S fastest man on Oklahoma eleven. Played in Orange and Senior Bowls - also North-South game. Born in Ardmore, Oklahoma where he starred on the high school football, basketball, and track teams.

Len joined Chicago in '54 via a trade with the Rams. It was a happy swap for the Cards because Len is now one of the most effective offensive tackles in the league. Those gaping holes in the line are no accident. More than likely, Len's wedging the forward wall open with powerful blocks to give Card backs a wide avenue for ground gaining. In the off-season he sells Insurance and his opponents could use some when they tangle with Big Len.

As a star in college Leo played fullback and offensive end. But in the pro ranks he functions as a fine defensive wingman. His tackling is sharp and he can diagnose a play with uncanny ability.
