It's hard to believe, but Gheorghe actually improved upon his NBA-best field goal percentage of 1995-96, canning 60.4 percent of his shots last season.

He was born in Italy, but Vukcevic is a Serbian. "They say it's a good time to be Serbian," the rookie center said. "[Nikola] Jokic is the best player in the NBA right now.... It's an athletic country, we rely a lot on our sports." Whether it comes from his blood or his hard work, Vukcevic is chock-full of talent.

"He gives you that enthusiasm and that effort and those hustle plays. In '98-99, Wallace had some amazing games. After becoming a starter, he hit double digits in rebounds 10 times in one 11-game stretch. And in an April 29 victory over Cleveland, he bagged all nine of his field goal attempts.

Deni Avdija
Avdija's father, Zufer, steered him away from his first love, soccer, and toward the hardwood when the kiddo was 9 years old. "I wasn't tall," he told the Washington Post. "But I was the fastest in my hometown." The height would come and with it the attention of NBA scouts, who flocked to see the talented youngster at Maccabi Tel Aviv.
