Name that player!

Considered a "washed-up" old man, Sal wrote the greatest comeback story in baseball last year. Cast off by Cleveland, he joined the Dodgers, pitched a no-hitter and finished the season with the 4th best E.R.A. It was Sal who came through to clinch the Pennant. He also beat the Yanks in the first game of the Series.

Gil is one of the National League's top power hitters each year. He tied major league record with four home runs in one game in 1950. Hodges has batted in more than 100 runs for five straight years, reaching a peak of 122 in 1953.. Gil also holds league fielding record of 171 double plays for first basemen. He's been a Brooklyn regular since 1948.

Should Van Mungo make the comeback he has promised for 1940, the Brooklyn Dodgers will be even more dangerous than last year when they finished a surprising third. A lame arm has troubled Mungo for two seasons but the kinks seem to have worked themselves out and off his training camp showings, he may once more become the pitcher he was when he was "Strikeout King" of the National League. Last year, Mungo appeared in only 14 games, winning 4 and losing 5. Mungo is and has always been a hard-working pitcher, bearing down all the time. He started pitching full games at the age of 14, with "Buck" Newsom one of his rivals. His dad was a former Sally League pitching star, so Van comes of his baseball heritage naturally. He is one of the heaviest hitting pitchers in the league, batting .345 last year and appearing as a pinch-hitter in 15 games.
